Copper and Red, two characters from the collaborative novel project Fireflies. (Hey Katie, look, I finished!)
Another spot illustration (Black and white) showing a supporting character, Mockingbird, and two young kids. and then Kai’s character illustration for Mockingbird (Color art)
The spot illustration is from a scene where Mockingbird demands the strange adult (Smoke) be banished before he becomes a monster. The scene is a little different and she’s older now (though in the scene she’s not as old as in Kai’s art).
Mockingbird is a heart card (can you tell?) and believes in the dogma of the hearts. She’s a strong fighter and a very dangerous enemy and that’s all I feel like saying about her now. :D
The spot illustrations for the next Fireflies Short Story (to be posted soon!). Apologies for getting behind on that! Virus’s attacked, and work, and paying commissions -which need to go first ^^
Hopefully this peeks interest in the coming short story :)
Over the last months I did a few rough sketches of some of the main characters from Fireflies (and yes this was everyone wears cloaks month)
On top we have young lovers Smoke and Flame who start our story off.
Next is Rook, steadfast second in command of the rebels, whose bristling under Shields cautious command.
And then last but not least and widdle Shield. She’s much older in our story. Actually this is either a young Shield or I’m just drawing everyone baby faced as I’m want to do XD
An older seahorse merfey illustration I did, and reworked/added colour to recently!
(More art tonight, to go with the story post.)
Two Jesters :3
A concept sketch of Red, one of the two Jester’s in the Card Realm. Unless something has going horribly wrong their should always be two Jesters, the black and the red.
In our story, something -of course- has gone horribly wrong.
I like Red’s expression here, fits the character well. He’s flighty, hot headed, and can be dangerous, but he’s usually on the right side if not always going about something with the best methods. Also, I think this is the most masculine outfit he’s ever been drawn in.
Kai has done some amazing art of Red, and I cant’ wait until we can post them!
And here are two adorable Club Children. This is pretty much unrelated to anything other than I felt like sketching Clubs.
Well no, that’s sort of a lie. One of the boys is random, the other was a sketch for a character that’s so different now that I would pretty much sya that the character I sketched here no longer exists.
But it’s still cute. :)
This is a very early design sketch for one of our main antagonists, Winter.
Don’t let this fool you though, he really is NOT all that sympathetic. Not at all.
He will do bad things. Bad bad things.
The Little Fey love him though because they are simple minded and he is manipulative as hell.
A small music box rested at the bottom of a pile of refuse. Intricate floral patterns had been carved into the wood and an ornate golden latch matched the warmth of the grain. On the bottom a K and R had been carved into the wood with crude strokes. The initials belonged to a child who had loved the music box once, but childhood treasures gave way to the practical needs of an adult.
As twilight descended over the small field of trash, a glowing sphere that all mistook for a firefly darted around the refuse until it came to the music box. The light hovered for a moment, observing the once treasured toy. Then the light swelled, the glow widening and softening around the music box.
“Hellos,” a soft voice whispered, “Hellos, hellos! You shine, did you know? Bright Shine! Would you like to come with play? Yes? Yes!”
The light flared from a soft yellow to a dazzling white. For a second, it lit up the refuse pile like a spotlight before the darkness overtook everything, and the light and the music box were gone.
